How to Join the Helen Wells Agency

We see all new talent through our open calls. We have open calls for adults, teens and children. Dates, times and location info are listed to the right. Open calls for children and teens alternate every other month.

We do not currently accept applications via postal mail or email.

It's hard to say. We are always looking for new faces to add to our roster and sometimes we find we need more of one look than another.
There are a few restrictions:

• We accept ages 5+, but some age groups have more opportunities than others. Our best age group for work is 30+ Female runway models must be 5'9"-5'11" and between a size 2-8. Female plus models should be 5'9"-5'11" and size 12-18. Male runway models must be 5'11"-6'3".
  
  It's also important that you:
  • Have a flexible schedule
  • A positive, enthusiastic attitude
  • Reliable transportation

Mostly, we know what we're looking for and when we see it, the rest is up to you!

An open call is an informational meeting where we will give you LOTS of information about our agency, the various modeling and acting opportunities we can offer people, and the expectations we have for those asked to join. Even those already familiar with the world of professional modeling and acting will learn something about the way The Helen Wells Agency operates.

No, the open call is a free, information session.

You don’t need to have a monologue or anything like that prepared, but you do need to download our information sheet and bring a current photograph you can leave with us.

The picture should be current (taken within the last month), in color (please no black and white) and in focus (cell phone pictures typically don’t work). The picture should be of you, with no other people in it.

For adults: If you can, get someone to take 2 pictures of you against a plain background (like a plain white wall) – one that is a headshot (chest up) and another where we can see your full body. For kids, a cute color snapshot will work perfectly. We aren't looking for a professional picture – in fact, we prefer snapshots as they haven’t been edited or touched up so we get a better idea of what you really look like. Please do not bring CDs or binders of pictures.

We would love to be able to make individual appointments, but there just aren't enough hours in the day! We have found that most people that aren't available for an open call won't have a flexible enough schedule to attend auditions and bookings, most of which are Monday-Friday during normal business hours. We do hold open calls regularly, so hopefully an upcoming date will work in your schedule!

There is no fee to sign with our agency, but as a talent registered with HWA, you will have some financial responsibilities. Whether you are a model or an actor, you will be responsible for maintaining current, professional quality pictures. Costs on pictures typically average $400-$700. Once you are invited to join HWA, we will give you the agency's image requirements. We strongly suggest that you do not spend money on professional pictures prior to being accepted to the agency.

Absolutely! Everyone has to start somewhere! We represent all levels of experience from the undiscovered rookies, the established veterans and those levels in between.
