Importance of Staying Up to Date
As a professional model it is our responsibility to keep our portfolio up to date with current pictures and job credits. Often times updating your resume and providing current pictures to the agency can be tedious, but these items are the lifeline for your career. Even though I have been modeling for several years, there are often times where I may have fairly regular bookings and times where I will go several months without any new bookings. It is during these times that it is important to continue to get test shots taken, and to challenge yourself with new and creative pictures. Helen Wells Agency has talented photographers, or you can make a fun trip out of it and do a test with a photographer in another city possibly Chicago or Cincinnati for relatively close locations.
While test shots typically will cost you between $200-$500 depending upon photographer and location, the money you spend is an investment in your development. I use test shots to challenge myself with new photo concepts or to have pictures taken that I would like to personally have for my portfolio. Just don’t forget to send the photos to the agency once you get them back to update your profile! Everyone at the agency is working hard for you so it is always appreciated when we do our part as a model. Updated images and positive upbeat, energetic attitudes’ when meeting with potentials clients will help you land more jobs. Cheers
