A Sneek Peek Behind the Scenes of Helen Wells Agency Video Productions

As many of you know, Helen Wells Agency is now offering video production services for web videos, commercials, and training videos. We are able to shoot on location, or in our 900 square-foot studio, located just minutes away from our Carmel, Indiana office.

Over the past few months, we’ve been busy shooting short videos for French Pharmacie, Salon Orange Moon, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, and BlueMile (formerly The Running Company). With quite a few shoots under our belts, we thought it time to peek behind the scenes, as well as talk to our production team of Rick Lang, Jason Gaskins, and Matt Detjen.

David:  Matt, what was the most exciting part of the day?
Matt: To quote the A-Team, “I love it when a plan comes together.” Our team was able to hit the ground running because of BlueMile’s great preparation. On a personal note, I have known Ashley and Andrea Johnson for quite a few years now; it was cool helping them tell a story related to their business. Buy local!

David: What challenges did you see, directing the video?
Matt: There really were no challenges – Andrea Johnson of BlueMile was on her game! Nothing was left to question – she had her script ready to roll, talent in place, and shots planned out.

Matt is the Agency’s producer/director.

David: Having a background in film cameras, how much easier is it to use the new digital Canon 7D’s, as opposed to the Canon film cameras you’ve used in the past?
Rick: The 7D’s are light, small and inexpensive.  I can get them into tight places, and switch to still photography in an instant.  Their price tag has allowed us to have several on hand, which is always a good thing.  Side note:  an episode of the hit show House was actually shot on a similar Canon… pretty cool!

David: Jason, what did you bring to the table on this video shoot?
Jason: My knowledge of photography lighting transfers directly to video shoots.  On the lighter side of things (pardon the pun), who doesn’t want to see a few behind the scenes pictures.

Ok, enough details – you really just want to see the finished product.

Web-based videos are a fast growing trend.  They can be shot and edited in a relatively short amount of time, and can be tailored to meet your needs.  Short videos are ideal for showcasing a new product or service your company may be offering.  For more information about Helen Wells Agency’s video production capabilities and services, please visit http://www.helenwellsagency.com/video/.
