Morning Routine, Coffee, Newspaper, Email, Facebook?
When it comes to your morning routines, what do you do first? Probably, open one eye, glance at the alarm clock and hit the snooze, right? Well after that, after you’re showered, you [hopefully] make your bed, eat breakfast. Do you go straight to the tube for your news, or do you open up your laptop?
Being a bit of a techie, I’ve tried different routines in the morning, especially since I’ve recently graduated college. For a while, I was getting my morning news from the television, since the earthquakes in Haiti were a prominent topic.
Oh yeah, but I’ve left out one thing I’ve always done. I’ve always opened my notebook to check my email, see who’s written on my wall, or see what items I’ve been ‘gifted’ in MafiaWars. I usually catch up on a few blogs that I follow, but only if I have time. The main thing, is I check my email and my social networks.
I came across this interesting article on Mashable about a study that ExactTarget completed recently. In this article, ET found that more than 50% of all users check their email before doing anything else on the computer. Of that, 11% of all users visit Facebook as their first destination.
So what does this mean? I’m fairly confident in saying that social media is here to stay. In my post last week, I mentioned how quickly information is passed via social media channels. This further proves my point.
Now let’s tie this with your company. What can social media do for your company? Social media is by far the best way to introduce new products and services, drive traffic to your website and ultimately help raise funds and loyal customers. Since starting on the social media track just a few short months ago, we here at the Helen Wells Agency have seen a steady increase in website traffic, organic searches and overall business. We are now reaching broader markets, and starting new campaigns. Some of you may be familiar with them. Have you signed up for the Helen Wells Agency Newsletter? If not, perhaps you may want to.
In short, what do you do in the mornings? Take note to see if you check your email first thing, or what website you visit first. How many have Facebook set as your homepage?
