Part-time Indianapolis Model and Actor turns his Passion into a Career

So a recruiter, a banker, a consultant, and a talent executive all walk into a bar at the same time… Sounds like the beginning of a joke, maybe?  Who will make it out alive?  Who gets the girl?  None of the above.  I recently had the privilege of serving on a panel with three other young professionals that like me, love their jobs!

This IndyHub hosted event, moderated by FlashPoint’s Jeremy King, was a fun and interactive take on what made myself and my fellow panelists tick in respect to our careers — not to mention the paths that we all took.

My take-away from the event?  As cliché as it sounds, it all comes down to passion and attitude.  Are you following your passion, and what is your attitude regarding your station in life?  Are you creating your future, or are you sitting on the sidelines watching it unfold?  I’ve had the pleasure of working in the realm of non-profit for Indiana’s only compressive, children’s hospital, as well as working for a global, Fortune 500 manufacturing company.

So how did I end up at the Midwest’s most recognized name in talent?  Passion.   In my spare time I pursued my passion for acting, while embracing every opportunity to hone my communication skills in the world of consultative sales.  When Helen Wells Agency was looking for a business development candidate last year, I guess you could say that I fit the “role.”   Helen was looking for someone with a sales background that was passionate (there’s that word again) about the entertainment industry.  I might not have Mike Rowe’s job on Dirty Jobs (Mike, I’m coming for you), but I am involved in the industry that I love.  Moral of the story – never dismiss your dreams and aspirations; find a creative way to get involved in what you love!
